Amy Jeanguenat describes herself as a scientist, artist, and meditation teacher, and says the three roles often intertwine and give her perspective on the world around her. As a child she was often making art, singing karaoke, looking under a microscope, or dissecting something at the kitchen table.
She worked as a forensic scientist on criminal and humanitarian cases from all over the world. She also saw the toll that a career in criminal justice can take mentally, physically, and emotionally. She began meditating to help herself recover from stress, burnout, and trauma, and went on to study meditation, mindfulness, yoga, Ayurveda, trauma-informed approaches, Eastern philosophy, and social justice. She is a certified trauma-informed facilitator.
Today she designs training for teams facing workplace stress and burnout, offered through keynotes, workshops, courses, small group coaching, and individual mentoring. She has met with teams at Accenture, Capital One, and Salesforce to teach meditation at work, and has worked with individuals and teams within the criminal justice system on resilience and vicarious trauma. Seasonal living, rest, and ritual are among her favorite things to practice and teach.
In 2022 she traded pipettes for paintbrushes. Her art, in watercolor, gouache, pastel, acrylic, and mixed media, draws on her meditation practice and on the landscapes of Central Virginia and the Blue Ridge Mountains, where she makes her home. She serves on the board of the Fluvanna Art Association. Amy holds a BS in biology from Michigan State University and a master's in forensic science (molecular biology) from The George Washington University.
