2026 Winter Solstice Celestial Celebration & December Full Moon

This winter solstice full moon gathering at the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors (CoSM) in Wappingers Falls, New York, pairs a Full Moon Ceremony with an extended evening of live music, visionary art, fire performance and community. It is for anyone drawn to visionary spirituality and contemporary ceremony, and for those who want to mark the longest night in the company of artists and neighbors. The ceremony is led by Alex Grey and Allyson Grey, who co-founded the Chapel and have held Full Moon Ceremonies there since January 2003. This is gathering number 299 in that series.

What to Expect

The evening begins with the Full Moon Ceremony in the Great Hall of Entheon, from 7 PM to 8:30 PM. It is built around reflection, creativity and community. Seating is first come, first served. Priority Admission ticket holders enter the Great Hall at 6:30 PM and should be seated by 6:45 PM, when the second and third floors open for General Admission. Remote viewing areas in the Grey House Library and Entheon's All One Gallery are always available, and a live stream for those at home is planned.

At 8:45 PM the Celestial Celebration begins and the night spreads across the grounds. Liquid Bloom, Bluetech and Temple Step Project are on the music lineup, with dancing and performance throughout. Between sets there is plenty to explore: live painting, interactive art making, the Community Sand Mandala, fire performances, a bonfire, readings and healing arts. Entheon closes at 11 PM, the Group Howl at the Moon is at 12:45 AM, and the event ends at 1 AM.

About Alex Grey

Alex Grey, born in 1953, is a painter and spiritual teacher whose anatomical visionary art has become a visual language for contemporary mysticism. He layers translucent figures to show skeleton, musculature, organs and energy in a single image, drawing on Western anatomy and Eastern tantric philosophy. He calls these works the Sacred Mirrors, paintings meant to aid meditation and self-recognition. He and Allyson Grey have long advocated for cognitive liberty.

About Allyson Grey

Allyson Grey is a painter and social sculptor who co-founded CoSM, a visionary art sanctuary and interfaith church. Her abstract canvases use geometric grids, repetition and color gradation, built around what she calls "Order" and "Chaos" systems, to evoke contemplation. For decades she and Alex Grey have made spaces where art is a devotional and shared experience.

About the Music

Liquid Bloom is the world-electronic project of Amani Friend, co-founder of Desert Dwellers and curator of the Desert Trax label. It moves between deep ambient, downtempo and ecstatic dance, blending sacred chants and world traditions with modern sound design. Bluetech is a producer working in downtempo and ambient, known for immersive sonic work that honors both the body's wish to move and the spirit's wish for transcendence.

The Setting

CoSM sits at 46 Deer Hill Road in the Hudson Valley, 65 miles north of New York City. Entheon serves as the heart center of the grounds, alongside the Grey House and surrounding art spaces. The grounds open at noon and registration begins at 3 PM. Parking on site is limited. Once it fills, guests are directed to the New Hamburg Train Station for free parking, and a complimentary shuttle runs from 3 PM until the end of the event. CoSM is also reachable by Metro-North from Grand Central Terminal.
